Cape Town is a hiker’s dream, offering a mix of mountain, coastal, and forest trails all within reach of the city. Whether you’re after a gentle nature walk or a heart-pumping summit, the Mother City delivers unforgettable scenery every step of the way.

⛰️ Table Mountain

  • Platteklip Gorge: The most direct route to the summit. Steep and rocky but rewarding.
  • Skeleton Gorge(via Kirstenbosch): A lush forest climb with ladders and streams—emerges on the back of the mountain.
  • India Venster: A more adventurous route with some scrambling, offering dramatic views of the city and coast.

🌳 Lion’s Head

A beloved local hike. It spirals up around the peak with some chains and ladders near the top. Best for sunrise, sunset, or full moon hikes—360° views await at the summit.

🌿 Cecilia & Newlands Forests

Cool, shady forest trails with waterfalls, old mossy trees, and fynbos. Perfect for birding, picnics, or peaceful escapes close to town.

🌾 Silvermine Nature Reserve

Well-marked trails with panoramic views over False Bay and the Atlantic. Family-friendly options, gentle boardwalks, and the Elephant’s Eye Cave are highlights.

🐚 Chapman’s Peak & Noordhoek

Scenic coastal hikes with dramatic cliffs and mountain-meets-sea views. The Chapman’s Peak trail leads to panoramic viewpoints above the famous drive.

🌊 Cape Point (Table Mountain National Park)

A treasure trove of wild trails, shipwreck walks, and fynbos-covered ridges. Try the Lighthouse Walk, Shipwreck Trail, or the Hoerikwaggo Trail section for a wilder experience.
